About 111,000 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have not been collected in 10 Local Government areas of Oke-Ogun in the State.
The Resident Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), in the State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke made this known during a stakeholders meeting held at Saki Town Hall.
While continuing its sensitisation programme in Oke-Ogun ahead of the 2023 general elections, the State REC Boss noted that the Commission has introduced the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) into the electoral process to replace Smart Card Readers.
Dr. Agboke said over 111,000 PVCs are yet to be collected; hence, the need for political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and members of the political class to support INEC to ensure those PVCs are collected before the 2023 elections.
Responding, some of the Council Chairmen in Oke-Ogun commended the Commission on its various programmes towards ensuring a free, fair, and credible election in the State come 2023; promising to support INEC to ensure the collection of PVCs ahead of the 2023 polls.
The Stakeholders meeting also provided an avenue for political stakeholders to ask pertinent questions germane to next year’s general elections.
The INEC REC had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi, where the monarch pledged his support for the Commission toward the smooth conduct of the 2023 Elections.
