The Abia State Government has recorded three cases of monkeypox and consequently, asked for caution on the part of residents.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Osuji, who confirmed the report said the discovery was made in Aba North, Umuahia South and recently at Ikwuano LGAs.
He said that the Abia state government has done all they are supposed to do, including contact tracing, and the patients are doing well.
He disclosed that the state government has done the necessary sensitization and the positive cases have been contained.
The Commissioner further added that the information there is that they talk about personal and environmental hygiene and that residents should be on the lookout for people with a lot of rashes and try to isolate themself from and refer to the health facility nearer to them.
