Five of the 39 abducted student of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation Mando in Igabi Local Government area of Kaduna State, abducted from their Hostel on March 11, 2021, have regained freedom.
The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mrs. Samuel Aruwan, announced this on Monday, April 5, 2021.
Mrs Aruwan said the five students are currently undergoing medical check–up at an undisclosed Military facility in the State.
Earlier, parents of the 39 abducted students had described the administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai as callous and insensitive.
The parents condemned the statement by the Kaduna State Government on Sunday, April 4, 2021, that it did not hire any person to negotiate on its behalf with kidnappers.
Addressing reporters Monday, April 5, 2021, the representatives of the kidnapped Student’s Parents, Mr Sam Kambai and Comrade Sanni Friday, vowed that they will collectively negotiate with the Bandits to secure the release of their Children.
They said they cannot abandon their Children like the Government has done.
The traumatised Parents noted that Monday marks 25 dreary and excruciatingly difficult days since their children have been in captivity.
They lamented that there has been no word of empathy or assurance from Government nor has there been any action to inspire confidence that something is being done to secure the safe release of the Students.
