Five persons, including four children whose ages ranged from eight to thirteen, were buried alive at Ramin Farar Kasa in Kano State when the Land on which they were excavating white sand caved in.
The Spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, Sai’idu Mohammed, identified those who died on Friday, February 14, 2020 as Sai’ida Lawal 32, Dije Shu’aibu 8, Hadiza Shu’aibu 12, Nana Idris 12 and Wasila Nuhu 13.
Mohammed, further confirmed that a four year old boy, Ibrahim Shuaibu, was rescued with six others, as most of the survivors sustained multiple fractures and were taken to a Governement hospital for a medical attention.
He stated that the rescue was done after they received a distress call on from Dauni village that some people who were digging sand were trapped and we dispatched fire men to the scene.
Bodies of the dead were handed over to the vollage head of Dauni, Bello Rabi’u, for burial.
