4 OYO CYCLISTS BAG MEDALS FOR NIGERIA IN AFRICA COMPETITION

Four Oyo State Athletes from that represented Nigeria at the just concluded 2022 Confederation of African Cycling Track Championship in Abuja, scooped Silver and Bronze medals. 

The trio of Tawakalitu Yekeen, Rahmat Ibrahim, Adejoke Durogbade won silver medals while their counterparts Elizabeth Ajibade won bronze medal in the elite women’s 200m category.

The Chairman, Oyo State Sports Council, Gbenga Adewusi who said this in a statement issued by the Council, disclosed further that the duo of Oyo State Athletes, Oluwatobi Akinola and Azeez Abass also participated at the continental Championship.

The elated Chairman commended the athletes for their impressive performances emphasizing that there is need for them to improve in the subsequent competitions.

Thirteen African Countries participated in the tournament held at the Velodrome, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The competition which started on 14th July, ended on 17th July 2022.
