As the 2023 presidential election draw nearer, Nigerians have been advised to go beyond emotional attachments and do a thorough scrutiny of each of the aspirants scrambling for the post of the country’s president.
The advice was given by a Public Affairs Analyst, Mazino Obaro-Ikime, while participating on the BCOS television breakfast programme, AM120.
He called on Nigerians not to allow any form of sentiment to overwhelm their sense of reasoning, adding that the antecedents of most of the presidential aspirants are like garbages hanging on their necks.
Obaro-Ikime called on relevant agencies to get the electorate engaged and informed in a bid to enable them exercise the power to vote rightly.
Also featuring on the programme, a public affairs analyst and media consultant, Ayo Akinyemi, noted that politics over the years, has never given the best for Nigerians, describing the scramble for presidential ticket as a game for all comers.
On the issue of consensus candidacy, Akinyemi observed that such arrangement always cause uproar within the affected party, stressing that it is always better to give democratic process the due priority.
