A building collapse in Lagos has claimed the lives of two children while three men were also reportedly injured on Sunday.
Reports say that the incident occurred at Adeleye Street, Lady Lark in the Bariga area of the State.
According to the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the incident was caused by the scaffolding of a tank at a two-storey building that collapsed on a nearby bungalow.
The scaffolding reportedly fell on two rooms on the bungalow where the deceased children and injured adults were.
A situation report by the Agency titled ‘Collapsed building at Adeleye Street Ladylak, Bariga’, read: “The Agency activated its response to the above incident and upon arrival at the incident scene, discovered that the tank scaffolding of a two-storey building collapsed on a bungalow beside it and affected two rooms.
“Unfortunately, two children died from the impact. Three adult males sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.
“The Agency’s response team alongside Lagos State Fire and LASBCA (Lagos State Building Control Agency) are responders at the incident scene. Rescue operation is ongoing.”
