Buhari Frees 500 Inmates In Kano

President Muhammadu Buhari has pardoned 500 inmates of the Kurmawa Central Prisons in Kano State as part of Federal Government’s plans to decongest prisons.

The President granted the pardon on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, when he arrived at the Kano metropolis in company of the State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and others.

It was reported that the President was on a two-day official visit to Kano State, and had freed the prisoners, including males and females.

The President advised the affected inmates to be of good behaviour and shun anything that could bring them back to prison, and enjoined them to engage in lawful ventures to enable them become useful members of the society.

President Buhari also gave the inmates an undisclosed amount of money to transport themselves to their various homes.

Governor Ganduje also urged the inmates to conduct themselves well and contribute to societal development meaningfully.

President Buhari had earlier visited the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II
