Mrs. Ajimobi Restates Commitment To Female Development

The wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi has restated her commitment to improving the status and wellbeing of the female gender in the State.

Mrs Ajimobi renewed her commitment during a courtesy call by a two-man team from the British High Commission to her office at Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan.

While reflecting on some of her activities since Governor Ajimobi’s administration came on Board, she recalled the drafting of a bill on prohibition of violence against women which was forwarded to the State House of Assembly and eventually passed 5 years after initiation.

She also listed the initiation of woman empowerment programs to guard against abuse of woman due to poverty or want.

Mrs. Ajimobi further unveiled her intention to establish a Vocational Training Center for girls who drop out of school.

The British deputy High Commissioner, Laure Beaufils expressed her readiness to partner with the Oyo State Government and Office of the wife of the Governor to impact the lives of the women folk.

She enjoined the general public to not only educate their daughters on how to avoid getting abused but also educate the boys on how to respect and protect the women and girls in the society, adding that it is important for both women and men to work together for women rights.
